dedicated to agnès varda, one of the key figures of the french new wave, shamin yazdani's 'ode to autumn' depicts the quasi-interstitial mental space of an old, abandoned woman, who ploughs through moments of her life. despite the painful nature of her lingering moments, the old woman is represented as an assertive, life-affirming character with a spirit of giving. at the centre of the film's suggestive universe stands a colorful ball of wool, which invites the audience's active participation in the process of meaning-making, and resists the notion that it's representation can be reduced to a single correct interpretation.
